These Olympians and Athletes Are Showing Their Quirky Bodies

March 18, 2010 by Shelley Thompson

In Ancient Greece, the sanctuary of Olympia sponsored sports events among athletes from various Greek cities. Nearly two millennia later, this event transformed into the most significant sporting tournament of our time: the well-known Olympic Games. Did you know that athletes in the ancient Olympics used to compete nude? Although things have luckily changed, the current Olympians appear to be on a different level. Now, the demand is increasing, and the results seem to improve with each edition. They’re dead set on winning; they’re willing to go to extremes and work their guts out. But it turns out their diets and routines create some rare consequences on their bodies. So let’s see how the human body can change according to its needs, demands, and nutrition.

Women’s weightlifting was a massive win for the Philippines at the Tokyo Olympics. Hidilyn Diaz took first place and won the gold medal. In fact, it was the country’s first gold medal in any category in history. Bravo, Hidilyn!
