Maybe this is not a surprise to you, but Mother Nature can be cruel, terrifying, and ugly sometimes, if not always! It depends if you usually focus on seeing only the good stuff in the world, like pretty flowers, puppies, and other things you can find in fairytales. Or, if you prefer accepting the cruel reality and take a look at the dark side of the natural world and its creepiest creatures: the arthropod kingdom, the craziest plants, and the weirdest fungi. So let’s try to unfold this mysterious world and all the unexpected facts you never imagined to be true.
Run away if you find this mommy and her babies
Scolopendras are very good and dedicated mothers, and they will not hesitate for a second to inject you with their poison if you try to touch their young babies. So if you see one of these creatures, better known as centipedes, just leave them alone and do not touch them —unless you want to experiment with her maternal fury.
There are centipedes all over the world except in Antarctica, believe it or not. In this image, we witness a tender hug of a mother and her babies, but it may make you feel anything but tenderness. However, nature has its own ways of showing love, don’t you think?
