Lots of fire ants in the water
Here we have the so-called fire ants; they were baptized because of their great sting, which causes hellfire’s burning. People who have experienced firsthand their fire sting know the terrible pain it causes. These ants were accidentally brought to the United States by a South American cargo ship.
The colonies of this species can have up to 200,000 individuals, and all of them are subjects of a single queen. If push comes to shove, many ants are joined together to create a floating island for the colony to survive, just like they did in the great floods occurring in the area in this photo. Excellent teamwork.
