Many of us have probably seen our favorite internet personalities promoting the latest fitness craze; ab stimulators. These devices claim to have the ability to give you a six-pack in just a matter of weeks by sending currents of electricity into your abs. But is it as effective as everyone claims?
The Device
This certainly isn’t new technology in the fitness world. For years people have theorized on the benefits of electroshock treatment to muscles. But this is a first for creating a wide market for growing muscles with said treatment. Does it really work though? Well, sort of. The electricity passing from the device into your muscles does stimulate them, and trust me, you feel it.
But the reality is you won’t get six-pack abs from using this device alone. Muscles grow due to muscle fibers breaking down via exercise and weightlifting. When the muscle fibers break down, they grow back stronger, creating a larger muscle. Electronic stimulators don’t do this, unfortunately. You’re feeling pain from the electricity in your abs, not from the fibers breaking like they do when you exercise them.
Diet is Everything
Yes, it is true. Diet is significant when it comes to getting your abs showing. Most people store fat in their belly, and for any sort of muscle to be visible, you must lose that layer of fat. This comes from maintaining a strict, healthy diet and exercise routine. Eating clean, refraining from sugars, and counting your macros are all ways to start losing fat efficiently. Fasted cardio also helps tremendously. But what doesn’t necessarily help getting those abs to show is a device that shoots electricity into you.
While this product is trendy at the moment, electroshock devices have been around for some time now. Many argue that they have certain healing properties when it comes to muscles. But claiming that these devices have the capability of growing a beautiful looking six-pack is a pipedream if there ever was one.
