Does space have a sound?
Anyone who remembers their high school classes knows that sound cannot carry in space because there is no air for it to travel through. However, the outer reaches of the universe are not entirely silent. There are certain interstellar gases that could propagate soundwaves, but most of all, sound can be produced by gravitational waves.
Neither of these options will necessarily produce a sound that will reach human ears. Any gasses floating around will probably be less dense than the Earth’s atmosphere, so any soundwaves would likely dissipate quickly. Gravitational waves can be heard with good enough detectors, but their frequency cannot be captured by the human ear.
