Watch what happens when you leave beet juice outside overnight
Believe it or not, this photograph is not of some peculiar squirmy worms. It is a photograph of a bowl of beet juice left on the countertop overnight that got infected by yeast, similar to what you can usually find in Kombucha (a fermented tea traditionally consumed for its health benefits). The photographer must have felt a creepy crawl under their skin while photographing this picture.
Yeasts are micro-organisms that consume sugars. Therefore, when this bowl of beet juice was left outside for too long, the yeast from the surroundings might have started feeding on its natural sugars and replicating resulting in fermentation.
