What happens when you fall asleep while bathing
We have all experienced our fingers and hands shriveling when we’ve been in the shower for too long. But this person fell asleep while bathing, and it seems like they dozed off for a considerably long time, making their skin look slimy and pruned up. This photograph makes it uncomfortable to look at these peculiar ripple patterns all over the palm, but it also makes us think about why our skin prunes up when left submerged for a long time.
When left submerged, our nervous system signals our blood vessels to shrink immediately. This causes our skin to shrivel up because of the smaller sizes of blood vessels. Now that we think of it, we wonder if mermaids have similar skin. That would probably spoil all those fairytales for us.
