When it’s so cold your food freezes mid air

Ever wonder why cooking competitions aren’t held in the polar regions? Well, this photograph answers that. This scientist photographed an omelet that solidified mid-air when exposed to Antarctica’s freezing temperatures. Gordon Ramsey must be annoyed and amazed by this peculiar scene.

In cold polar regions like Antarctica, it is common for food to cool down and solidify rapidly. Cooling causes the water molecules in an object to lose their energies and form solid crystals, causing freezing. Nobody wants to eat a frozen omelet on a Sunday morning for breakfast.
