You can see this fish’s brain through its skin
The ocean is a mysterious place. The deeper you go, the creepier the living organisms you’ll find. Since the deep sea is pitch dark, fish didn’t evolve pretty color schemes, visual camouflage, or protection from sunlight. Most deep-sea creatures are pretty drab, and some are even translucent, like this fish.
Barreleyes are eerie. You can see their brains and eyeballs through their skin. If you think about it, it isn’t that these creatures are scary. It’s just that they adapted to an environment very different from the one we know. We can’t deny this fish species is pretty uncanny, though.
