Mauritius National Botanical Garden
The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden, also called the SSR Botanic Garden, Pamplemousses Botanic Garden, or Mauritius National Botanical Garden, is a popular tourist attraction in Pamplemousses, near Port Louis, Mauritius. It is famous for its massive pond of giant water lilies. The garden covered a land area of 37 hectares and was constructed by Pierre Poivre.
The garden was ranked third among all the gardens that could be admired in the world. Aside from its giant water lilies, the garden has spices, ebonies, sugar canes, and 85 varieties of palms from Central America. Most of the trees were planted by world leaders and royalties like Princess Margaret and Countess of Snowdon.
