Medellín Botanical Garden
The Joaquin Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden of Medellín, known as the Botanical Garden of Medellín, is a 14-hectare botanical garden in Medellín, Colombia. It has 4,500 flowers and 139 recorded bird species; it is also one of the few gardens with an Orchideorama (an important collection of orchids preserved in an architectural space.)
The entrance pavilion to the botanical garden was designed by Lorenzo Castro and Ana Elvira Vélez. The Orchideorama is 65 feet high, made with a wood meshwork canopy with hexagonal flower-tree structures that collect rainwater and protect the orchids. The garden also exhibits attractions like the butterfly house, cactus garden, and a library.
