White House Rose Garden
For an urban city, Washington, D.C. has numerous parks, including the White House Rose Garden that lines the Oval Office and the West Wing of the White House. The garden is approximately 125 feet long and 60 feet wide, complementing the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden on the east side of the White House Complex.
The White House Rose Garden was established in 1913 by Ellen Louise Axson Wilson, wife of Woodrow Wilson. The garden is commonly used as a stage for receptions and media events. Although many Americans might have seen the garden on TV, it is not open for public access.
