Royal Botanic Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens, located in Victoria, Australia, are botanic gardens across Melbourne and Cranbourne. It is on a 38 hectares plot of land and opened in 1846. It is currently being operated by the Board of the Royal Botanic Gardens and gets 2 million visitors a year. Prevalent vegetation in the garden includes Australian native lawns and traditional non-native gardens.
The Melbourne Garden was founded in 1846 when the land was reserved on the south side of the Yarra River for a new botanic garden and displayed almost 50,000 individual plants representing 8,500 different species. The Cranbourne Gardens was established in 1970 when the Garden’s developers acquired the land to build a garden dedicated to Australian plants.
