Stowe Landscape Gardens
Stowe Landscape Garden is one of the finest Georgian landscape gardens. It comprises valleys and vistas, narrow lakes, and rivers with more than 30 temples and monuments. It was designed by leading architects of the 18th century and is regarded as the creation of the Temple family. Many garden buildings at Stowe Landscape Garden have been restored after decades of rot and mismanagement.
The garden is believed to be the handwork of Vanbrugh and Bridgeman in the early 1700s, but other famous designers finished the development. Stowe has a place in gardening history as it was one of the first, and certainly the most influential, of what came to be called ‘landscape gardens.’
