Herrenhausen Gardens
The Herrenhausen Gardens, located in Herrenhausen, is a garden in the urban district of Lower Saxony’s capital and consists of four gardens: the Great Garden, the Berggarten, the Georgengarten, and the Welfengarten. The Great Garden has always been one of Europe’s most distinguished Baroque gardens.
The Berggarten, also called the Mountain Garden, was created in 1666 as a vegetable garden for the Great Garden but was later transformed into a garden for rare, expensive, and exotic plants. The Welfengarten, also called the Welf Garden, was developed in 1857 and makes up the grounds of the University of Hannover. It is made in the style of English gardens and is also considered a popular area for the residents of Hannover to hang out.
