Burying your problems
Another popular folklore from the locals of St Petersburg. It is believed that while the architectural and developmental phases of the town were underway, Peter the Great was faced with a problem. A problem so big (literally) that even the best engineers and contractors of that time failed to solve.
The problem was a massive boulder in the middle of what was supposed to be a road. Explosives and manpower failed to get rid of that rock, but a clever peasant did the job. Instead of removing the rock, he buried it and made a lot of money.
