Here is a fun one to put to the test: men and women see the color red differently. That’s right, researchers have found that the ability to see red comes from a gene that is attached to the X chromosome. You’re probably ahead of us on the math here, but women have TWO X chromosomes, while men only have one, meaning women can simply see these hues *better*.

You know how we hear a lot about scent and how it can stir up all kinds of memories? Well, colors can do that too! And not just seeing a color, but hearing the name of a color can bring to mind a number of associations as well.
As a whole, and we mean the whole world, blue is a favorite among the masses. Followed closely by the color purple.
We’ve often thought about the first time we were able to truly see colors, now, of course, we can’t actually recall the date, but thanks to science, we know that the first color we probably saw was in fact, red. Research tells us that tiny humans as young as a mere two weeks can see the color red, until about five months when their color vision develops enough to see more and more colors.
We’ve heard of being scared of spiders, snakes, the dark, death, etc., but did you know that some people are scared of colors? Chromophobia, or fear of colors, often stems from a traumatic event associated with a certain color.

You know how when you turn the lights off there’s that brief moment where everything just goes kinda gray as your eyes adjust? Well, there’s a name for that color, and please don’t ask us to pronounce it, but the official name for this particular gray is eigengrau.
Studies have shown that pictures or videos are significantly more memorable when they’re in color versus when they’re in black and white. Scientists believe that this is simply because color has a stronger appeal to the senses.
What you wear determines a lot of the whole ~vibe~. If you’re in a situation where you want to be remembered, wear a pop of color, if you want to feel and appear powerful, don all black, and if you want to appear calm, cool, and collected, opt for a whole lotta neutrals.
