Road Tripping, But Make it Nerdy

May 7, 2025 by Shelley Thompson

Over the last few years we’ve been Airbnb’s become THE places to stay no matter where the destination may be, and why not? Check-in and check-out are super easy, you feel way more at home than in any hotel room, and rates are significantly less for significantly more space. We totally get it. And the really cool thing is that there is a themed Airbnb out there for pretty much anyone and everyone. Love Christmas? Check. Wanna spend the weekend on a farm? They got you. City living in an industrial modern apartment more your thing? Just say the word. And yes, there are even Airbnbs out there for us nerds. Let’s take a look!

Harry Potter Fan’s Dream, Chickamauga, Georgia

This charming little home is the ultimate stay for any Harry Potter fan, tucked away from Muggles. (Okay, not really, but while you’re staying here you can totally pretend!) Stained glass windows, tons of antique trinkets strewn about, and a clawfoot bathtub are just a few of our favorite little details. This abode is suitable for four guests, with one bedroom, three beds, and one bathroom. If you’re forever bummed you never received your Hogwarts acceptance letter, you can kinda sorta come to live out that dream here. Book now!

Twelve Parsecs, Orlando, Florida

Okay, we could sit here and tell you how incredible this Airbnb is, but we’ll let the hosts tell you: “In this galaxy far, far away, work and the “real-world” are light years behind you. Set aside the first 10 minutes of your vacation just to run through the house and discover—and watch the kids discover—all of the features that make Twelve Parsecs like a live-in movie set. (If movie sets had a private, heated swimming pool and resort amenities, of course.)

Editorial content

Each of the home’s 9 bedrooms is inspired by a different planet in that far away galaxy, with painstakingly detailed, hand-painted wall murals, 3D custom-molded planets, and handmade beds, so even dreamtime is on-theme.

Wake up in a swamp lush with vines, an ice bed, or a podracer, placing you right in the scenes from your favorite movie series. Then brush your teeth in one of 5 character-themed bathrooms—from rebels to your favorite robots. Fuel up for your theme park adventures in the full kitchen, with all appliances and plenty of countertop space.” Book now!

Secluded Hobbit House, Ramona, Florida

It’s pretty clear that this house was inspired by J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, and even if that’s not really your thing, you have to admit, this is a super cool Airbnb. Now typically these places are fully equipped with all of the modern technologies and amenities, but this house is, well, a little different.

From the host: “The bed is a queen-sized Murphy bed, providing ample space for activities during the day and super comfortable sleep during the night. The accommodations are simple: there are sinks, with running water, both inside and outside the hobbit house. There is a small closet to hang clothes, a wood-burning fireplace, and a built-in desk. There is also a small bar (on rollers) stocked with basic cookware, glassware, and cutlery. There is no refrigeration system (no electricity), but we do have a top-of-the-line YETI cooler to keep any perishables cold, and we can provide a block of ice. There is a Coleman propane camping stove provided, allowing you to cook indoors, or outdoors. Outside there is a propane BBQ grill and an on-demand hot outdoor shower and flush toilet. There are plenty of seating areas, whether you would like to bring a chair(s) out around the fire pit or sit on top of the living roof.” Book now!
