Roosters deafen themselves temporarily every time they crow
If you have spent any time around roosters, you know that their “morning” crowing can be quite loud. Their distinctive call can be quite piercing to our fragile ears. If you stand near a rooster sounding off, you will be hit with a sound wave that’s about a hundred decibels.
This sound can even cause damage if you are standing too close to the animal. The crow of roosters can be so loud that it is surprising that they do not go deaf from their own calls. In fact, roosters deafen themselves temporarily every time they crow to avoid damaging their own hearing.
