We’d be lying if we didn’t say we enjoyed getting the pants scared off of us every once in a while. You’ve probably seen this classic trope in a million and one horror flicks. The main characters heard a strange noise coming from the basement, attic, or forest. Instead of doing the sensible thing like hiding in their room or calling the police (a false report is better than potentially running into a murderous ghost), they investigate.
Although it’s annoying to see time and time again, we long for the moment where the protagonists make the fatal error of trying to crack an age-old mystery on their own. Plus, they’ll have plenty of opportunities to alert the authorities but never do.
