Shield-Back Bug
This bug is called a “true bug” and a jewel bug or metallic shield bug because of its vibrant colors. Although harmless to humans, the shield bug can be a gardener’s worst nightmare. Their beautiful coloration does nothing to improve their etiquette as they are known to invade fruit trees and flowers.

These exceptional insects are scattered around China, Taiwan, Japan, and other East Asian countries. They differ from beetles by their sucking mouthparts and a continuous shield on their back, not the divided shield cover with a margin in the middle. You will likely find them taking a break under large tree barks or on leaves, sucking away to their satisfaction.
