Snout Weevil
Trypophobia warning! Do not stare at the image above for too long if you have trypophobia; the odd patterns and textures may just make your body itch from disgust. Unfortunately, this is what the snout weevil looks like up close. The white particles filling the “pores” in its skin are quite nasty and may trigger a person with trypophobia. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

The snout weevil is actually a big beetle classified as a “true weevil.” It has a long and pointy snout and is known to ravage agave species like the century plant. This insect is an agave plant’s worst nightmare as it deposits bacteria into the tissues with one bite, and it gets damaged fast and dies within a short period. The damage can result in a terrible loss because agave plants bloom only once in their life before they die, so imagine a whole farm being ravaged by snout weevils?
