Dark-Winged Fungus Gnats

The dark-winged fungus gnats, or Sciaridae as they are scientifically called, are closely related to flies. They are known to ravage mushroom farms and other household plants. These insects do not harm humans in any way. They do not carry diseases, nor do they bite or sting. 

What does the image above tell you about this insect? On my end, I see an insect enamored by the plant beneath it, holding it like it wants to give it a lover’s kiss. In real life, fungus gnats are as tiny as a grain of black pepper, so you might not see one up close like this. So, appreciate this moment of discovery.
