The mantid fly is an odd insect. If you were to describe it, you’d say it looks like a praying mantis, but as funny as it may seem, they are not even related, or maybe a paternity test is required to prove that. Like the praying mantis, the mantid fly catches prey with its strong, spiny forelegs and eats away at them, but they are not easily found.

The mantid fly is rare, but the delicate creatures have been mostly sighted in tropical and subtropical areas, with only five known species found in Europe. The mantid fly will come to your aid if you ever require pest control. Having one around isn’t such a bad idea, especially if they can get rid of spiders.
