The detail on this 17th century Ottoman tent is amazing
This Ottoman Empire was one of the longest-lasting in the world. Founded around 1299 by Sultan Osman I, it was disbanded after WWI in 1922. They ruled over large swathes of the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and North Africa, and the military might of its armies was a bane to Europeans for centuries.
But relations between the Empire and Europe were not always strained. In fact, this tent was not looted but purchased by King August the Strong in the 17th century. It is 20 meters long, 8 meters wide, and 6 meters high and is made out of silk and gilded leather.
