Ethiopia has churches that are only accessible by climbing
In this ancient rock in the Tigray region of Ethiopia lies the Orthodox Church of Abuna Yemata Guh, which can only be accessed by climbing 1,000 feet up a cliff face. Ethiopia was one of the first regions where Christianity was adopted and has several of these hidden temples.
This one is covered in murals depicting parables and important figures of Christianity. The arid climate has gone a long way toward preserving the wonderful animal fat paints, so the colors still look bright. Both the murals and the building itself are thought to be the work of Syrian Saint Binyam.
