Altocelarophobia – Fear of high ceilings
Do you hate large covered spaces such as malls, cathedrals, rail terminals, or any building with a ceiling/roof substantially higher than a standard ceiling? Does the daunting height make you feel small or like you are being sucked into a hollow enclosure? This medical condition is called altocelarophobia, which means a fear of large ceilings.
It is believed that polished floors are known to increase the tall ceiling effect. Some symptoms of altocelarophobia include a feeling of dread and being sucked into the open space; sufferers complain about dizziness and nausea.
