The lesser the hair, the greater the charm!
Contrary to the current fashion trends, big foreheads were considered a symbol of beauty and fertility among Renaissance women. Now that’s what we call facts that make us scratch our heads! Back in the 16th century, any female hair was considered sinful, and women would pluck everything they could get their hands on. Even eyebrows and eyelashes!
Huge, curved foreheads were seen as attractive (and curved, of course). Extreme practices like concoctions made from non-skin friendly chemicals like vinegar and cat poop were applied on the scalp to gradually thin out the hair follicles to achieve a receding hairline. We can’t say how many of our female readers would agree, but we are sure that a significant chunk of them would want to bring back this trend, for many of them might be sick of using their bangs to cover their foreheads.
