Random Situations In Which Spiders Invaded People’s Space

by Shelley Thompson

What is the hairiest, grossest, and leggiest animal you can find hiding in the most random places? Let us give you a hint. They appear when you least expect them to and can make you jump from where you are at any given time. Frogs? No, we said it was hairy. Did you even read the title? That's it! Spiders! Way to go. These many-eyed critters love shadows and closed spaces, and are usually hard to get rid off. The following images show situations in which our eight-legged friends paid an unsolicited visit to the person who took the picture. Unlike vampires, itsy bitsy spiders do not need to be asked in when it comes to frightening you inside your own home.

You can find spiderwebs inside your clock

Clocks are usually designed to prevent anything from getting inside the face. Still, sometimes, the seals might not be completely airtight. This person got a terrible surprise when they went to check the time. It turns out it was “spider o' clock.”

That morning, the owners wondered why their alarm had not gone off when they noticed the hands had been glued down by a spiderweb. Who would have thought the substance was so strong that it had the ability to stop time.

This gingerbread house had a scary insect on top

Most snowglobes have cute wintery scenes, and when you shake them, the little fake snowflakes swirl around and make it seem as if it is snowing. It is usually a pleasant and comforting experience, but not this time.

If a spider finds its way into the globe, the experience will definitely become scary. It seemed to have liked the cozy atmosphere of the gingerbread house. Too bad it's a little small for its long spindly legs.

It found its way inside a straw

When talking about nightmarish situations, drinking a spider would be on the top of the list for many. This person was so focused on doing their homework that they failed to notice there was an insect inside the straw.

Today's star was found sipping on some of that leftover Sprite! God, just the possibility that there were other spiders inside the cup makes us feel sick. Maybe they'll turn into the new version of Spiderman after this.

It was living in the ethernet socket

Have you ever wondered what the three “W”s at the beginning of a website's link stand for? It is an abbreviation for “world wide web” and supposedly refers to the symbolic web of the Internet.

But in this case, it could have been taken literally, given that this web-spinner decided to make an ethernet socket its home. We wonder if their websites were loading a bit slow. We hope evicting the bug was enough to fix it.

This green light made an interesting effect when it lit up and exposed the web

Putting fake spiderwebs in front of colored light is a great Halloween party decoration. It might be less exciting if it is an actual web with actual critters on it, but they are fascinating anyway. Just look at this next picture.

Are the little dots stuck on the web its offspring or its meals? The answer does not matter, as long as they stay outside. After all, how cool it looks only depends on how far away you can watch them from.

Finding bugs in your grapes is common, but finding a black widow is not

When it comes to fruits, it is common to find bugs hiding within the folds or inside the plastic packing. It is even more likely if you buy products that are grown without pesticides. But not all bugs are equal.

And this bug looks suspiciously similar to the black widow spider, one of the deadliest arachnids in the world. They have black bodies with a red spot underneath their stomachs, just like this one does.

This person found a spider nest inside their gloves

If you live in a more rural area, you have probably had several run-ins with other creatures. So, it is always a good idea to check your shoes for any unwanted guests before you put them on.

While you are at it, you might also want to consider checking inside your gloves. This person went to grab a pair and found an unpleasant surprise. What looks like a daddy longlegs had made its home inside one of them.

A giant creature took over this person's microwave

Humans share the world with thousands of species. While it is true that some species are prettier than others, we should endeavor to live peacefully side by side with the nastiest of creatures… with some exceptions.

If you run into a spider that size, you would definitely give up on using the appliance forever. If you want to reheat your food, you will have to either use the oven or buy a new microwave instead.

There was a tarantula above their friend's head

Judging by this compilation, finding a spider in your car is a common thing. If they are on the smaller side, it is no big deal. You either kill it or take it outside to live out the rest of its life.

But when they get this big, they can be a problem. Would you tell your friend that there is a stowaway on the ceiling above his head? Our advice is to find a place you can pull over as quickly as possible.

The restroom stall was already occupied when they went in

Going to a public restroom can be an unpleasant experience in itself. Nevertheless, if you have to go, you have to go, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Just make sure to check the stall first.

That way, you can avoid situations like these. We wonder whether the person could hold it in long enough to change toilets. They might have been afraid to disturb the eight-legged creature that was walking on the door.

Can you see it? This bug is a master of disguise

Some species develop camouflaging abilities to survive. Take the chameleon, for example, that changes its color in order to blend in with its surroundings. This little guy seems to have borrowed the chameleon's methods.

And it was quite successful. The creature was very careful to arrange itself to look just like the spikes on the cactus. Are these spiders native to desert ecosystems? Or do they have an incredible ability to adapt to their surroundings?

These bananas came with a little extra something

Bananas are sweet, tasty, and a great healthy snack for people of all ages. They are rich in nutrients such as potassium, which keeps muscles from cramping. But these seem to have come enriched with something else.

That is, an extra dose of bug protein. It is said that if humans would get used to eating more bugs, we would get more protein in our diet without hurting our planet. We are not sure it is a viable alternative, though.

An insect was living in the bristles of their toothbrush

Brushing your teeth before you go to sleep is very important. No matter how tired you are, you should always make sure not to skip your oral hygiene routine. But one thing you should never do is share your toothbrush.

Especially not with a spider. We cannot imagine how gross it must have been for this person to realize there was an insect on their brush. Maybe just gargling with some mouthwash will have to do this time.

It was so big that everyone thought it was a prank

Thousands of videos on social media platforms show people pulling pranks on their friends or family by making them believe there is a giant spider somewhere near them. But what if it was not a prank?

Joke or not, you would probably start shaking too. The creature they saw on the window was so big that everyone thought it was fake. We want to believe the thing was on the outside, at least.

This critter decided to make its home inside a pint glass

If you have lived in the same house for several years, it might be hard to keep track of everything you have. Take this person, who probably had a whole collection of pint glasses they had not touched in a long time.

But when they went to grab one, they found someone had decided to build a house inside, or more exactly, a hammock. See? Spiders are just like us. They just want to drink beer and relax.

How it got there is still a mystery

Sometimes, you might find bugs in the strangest of places. It may seem as if they can get into anything. Take this bug, who managed to sneak into an AC's number display.

We have no idea how this happened. Perhaps it was a warm spot to live in. Although we are not sure that the green led display light was good for the poor thing. We hope it could find a way out of such a tight space.

This one is so big that it has to be fake, right?

Spiders can be scary, but if you live in a city, you can be pretty sure that most spiders you run into will be on the smaller side. You might run into bigger ones if you live in rural areas, but still, it is hard to believe that one like the following exists.

That is why we refuse to believe this photo is genuine. If this is real, it would mean there is an insect bigger than a human's head running around somewhere in the world. Admitting that would be too much for our poor psyches.

It crawled into this man's ear

It is a common storyline in horror films to have something crawl into someone's ear and drive them insane. Fortunately, if something gets into your ear in real life, it will not make you crazy. But it will cause you mild annoyance.

However, that does not mean it will not feel like your worst nightmare come true. What is worse, the only solution is to go to an emergency room and have a professional remove it, which takes time and patience.

Apparently, they like fruit containers

If you are a fan of grapes, beware of spiders. This warning might sound nonsensical, but it seems like the critters are quite fond of these sweet fruits since they tend to show up inside containers that have them inside.

See? This is the second picture that features a spider peeking through a bunch of grapes. We know that buying fresh products means that you will probably find some dirt or bug remnants. But no one wants a spider in their fruit container.

That teabag had more than just tea

Imagine it is a cold winter day, and you want nothing more than to get home and make yourself a cup of your favorite brew. You finally get it done, but when you take the teabag out, you see something strange.

And it is something that you wish you had not seen. Finding a spider in your tea is not a pleasant experience. It will surely ruin your relaxing moment. At least this person did not drink the bug.

This creature can disguise itself as a branch

Remember how we said that some animals were masters at camouflage? Some bugs are, too, like this eight-legged arachnid. It did not care that it was not on a tree. Nothing could keep it from fulfilling its evolutionary purpose.

Of course, its purpose was disguising itself as a branch. Admittedly, it did not quite succeed in blending in with its surroundings. Still, any passer-by could easily assume there was a branch stuck to the curtain.

They found a cute spider in their fruit bag

This next one is another case of “finding spiders in grapes.” Fortunately, it was not a scary experience this time. This person was fascinated by having found such a lovely little critter in their produce bag.

We know that not everyone would agree with them, but just look at that adorable face. Those big dark eyes make it look like a cartoon, and the lovely bright orange butt will keep you from accidentally ingesting it.

They pulled down the visor and found a nasty surprise

It was a day like any other. This person drove to work like they always did, and when the sun hit their eyes, they decided to pull down the visor. At that moment, everything changed. There was something unexpected inside.

A giant spider appeared underneath the visor. Hopefully, the fright did not cause them to swerve or make any sudden movements. Thankfully it seems they were able to pull over safely and get out of the car.

This arachnid snuck into a speedometer

Keeping an eye on the speedometer should not take up much of your attention. But if you want to avoid any tickets, you should make sure you are driving below the limit. And if you see something like this, try not to panic.

Warning: do not try to dislodge it by bringing the dialup to ninety. It would not only be very dangerous but would also earn you a hefty fine. Just wait, it will probably leave on its own.

It blended in perfectly with the grapes

If there is any benefit in finding a bug in your fruit, it is probably the fact that it is pesticide-free. But if this does not concern you, you might not enjoy other creatures using your food as a home.

But unlike many of the others featured in this compilation, this little one does not seem very threatening. And it fits in perfectly with the grapes! Make sure not to eat it, though.

Their vacuum sucked in more than just dust

The inside of your vacuum is not a place you would normally spend too much time looking at. In fact, you would probably run into some pretty nasty surprises if you looked closely.

That is exactly what happened to this person when they looked inside their vacuum. However, they might have intentionally sucked up the bug so they would no longer have to deal with it. That would not be a bad strategy.

This book was literally full of spiders

This novel is called This Book is Full of Spiders by Jason Pargin. It gives an insight into the adventures of two men who take a mysterious drug and develop the ability to see the supernatural.

And yes, this version had actual spiders in it. At least the story involves spiders, but we are not sure if every copy comes with its own eight-legged creature. You can ask your local bookshop about it.

They found an unwanted friend inside a can

Drinking is always more fun if you do it with a friend. Who says we should stick to befriending the same species? Friends come in all shapes and sizes. Take this situation, for example.

This person thought that cracking open a cold one with an arachnid was perfectly acceptable. However, that particular friend might have already passed on since it does not look too much alive.

There was something creepy inside this orange

Finding bugs between lettuce leaves or inside a fruit bag is not uncommon. But finding a spider inside an orange? This person must have been very confused when they cut this fruit open.

The bug must have gotten trapped long enough for the orange to grow around it. Yes, that's right. The orange grew around it and swallowed it up. Otherwise, it would have never gotten past the thick peel.

Another example of how spiders can be true masters of disguise

After centuries of living alongside humans, some animals might have adapted to life with us and have developed strategies to survive in a human-dominated world. Take this one, for example, who can blend into the white wall.

No one would have noticed it was there if it had not moved. Its long, spindly legs gave it away in the end. Finding a bug that size crawling around your house must be terrifying.

A leaf was hiding a giant creature

Forests and jungles are home to many fascinating species, many of whom use vegetation to hide. However, this creature might have to find a new hiding spot since it seems to have outgrown this one.

The glittering spiderweb coming out of the leaf is also a dead giveaway. It would probably do a better job at camouflaging itself if it were leaning on a tree since its stripes would help it blend into the bark.

They found an insect in their food but the restaurant manager did not give them a refund

Finding an insect in your food is disgusting, but we all know it is not exactly rare. Most restaurants would give you a refund or offer to re-make the dish for free- Sadly, this place did not have that policy.

While it is true that sometimes finding a bug in your food does not necessarily mean the kitchen is dirty, it is still unpleasant. Nevertheless, they should at least offer you a refund.

There was an eight-legged creature lurking in the toilet

There have been stories of people going to the toilet at night and encountering all sorts of creatures. This means it is probably a good idea to check there is nothing there before sitting down.

We hope this person saw the critter before sitting down on the bowl. It does not sound like a good decision to bear your most vulnerable bits to a possibly deadly predator.

Someone found a spider baked inside a cookie

Food processing plants are held up to the strictest of hygiene standards, and with good reason. You would not want to bite into a cookie and find that sugar and flour were not the only main ingredients.

The site of it is quite gruesome. Of course, sometimes bugs get into our food regardless of how careful we are. Still, given the size of that bug, maybe they should recheck the whole batch.

There was a nasty bug inside the teabag

If you find something in your drink, it was probably in the cup before you poured the liquid, or it flew inside it afterward. This person found out there was a third reason for it.

It came inside the teabag. The good news is that they did not run the risk of swallowing down the creature since it was safe inside the bag. The bad news is that drinking “spider tea” does not sound very appetizing.

The bottle cap was hiding something

It is incredible what you can find when you decide to let your curiosity loose. This person decided to lift a random bottle cap, and judging by what they found; it must have been there for a while.

A little spider had spun a whole little nest for itself under the cap. It is amazing how even the smallest bug can find a way to make the most out of the tiniest thing.

How did it manage to get in there?

It is time to play “spot the spider.” In this edition, there is a bug in a rice cooker, but where, exactly? You will have to look very closely at the picture to spot its location.

Just kidding, the giant red circle gives the answer away easily. Still, you have to marvel at the creature's ability to scurry. How did it manage to get stuck in the cooker's display?

There was something hiding under the covers

Getting under the covers and feeling something scurrying around is terrifying enough to give you the chills. These unfortunate souls got into this person's bed and had their worst nightmare come true.

Thankfully, it was dead. A bite from that thing would not have felt great. They even put a coin next to it for scale. However, we all might have felt more comfortable if we had never learned its actual size.

These insects seemed to multiply before their eyes

There are only a few brave souls who have the guts to whack it with a slipper and kill it whenever they see a spider. However, the following situation might be too much to handle, even for the bravest.

The worst thing that can happen when you whack a bug is for it to suddenly explode into thousands of mini-mes, as this photo illustrates. We cannot imagine how dreadful it must have been.

This eight-legged creature built itself a nest on the wall

If you see spiderwebs in your house, you must get rid of them as soon as possible. Otherwise, you may wake up one day to find that small web turned into a full-blown cocoon like this one.

The only explanation is that this happened either in an uninhabited house or in a rarely visited sector of an inhabited dwelling. Otherwise, how did a bug that size manage to build itself a whole nest unnoticed?

There was a spider inside the peephole and they did not notice

Imagine it is the middle of the day and you are chilling at home. Suddenly, you hear a knock on the door, but when you go see who it is, nobody is there. Confused, you step back from the peephole, and suddenly, you see it.

A giant spider is sitting on the lip of the peephole, a place that was very close to your face only seconds ago. What would you do if this happened? Try screaming and running in terror.

The bugs took over this plastic cup

Leaving your trash strewn around in a public place is not only annoying to other people, but it can also negatively affect the animals living there. Fortunately, these guys made the most out of this used plastic cup.

We doubt this was a freshly made drink. It had probably been left outside for a while, given how many spiders hang from the straw. Next time you run across an abandoned cup, throw it away… if you dare.

This creature's hideout was not quite big enough

By now, you might be aware that spiders can get into anything. They come in all shapes and sizes and are masters of disguise. Well, most of them are masters, but this one clearly was not.

It looks as if it were supervising everyone from above. We wonder if they ever got it out since that lamp does not look like an accessible location. They probably had to get used to life with a new family member.

They thought it was a frog, but they were wrong

It is not rare for animals to sometimes slip into people's houses by accident. This family thought a frog had jumped onto their drawer, but upon a second look, it seemed like it had too many legs.

Well, it was not really a frog. Let's face it, out of all the animals you could find in your house, a spider is not actually the most threatening, but it is certainly one of the scariest.

Seeing a giant tarantula on your car window might be the most terrifying thing ever

Nights can be scary, and not just for those who are afraid of the dark. You never know what can come out from the darkness to attack you. This person was lucky to be inside their car, given what they saw outside the window.

Imagine finding that giant thing waiting to pounce on you the moment you get out. Although the poor animal probably had no intention of hurting anyone, it certainly makes for a terrifying sight.

A little one was found hiding in a lotus flower seedpod

When fooling around in the garden, run-ins with insects are likely to happen. This person grabbed a lotus flower, hoping to study its anatomy in detail, but they found it was home to an adorable spider instead.

This strange-looking thing is actually the lotus plant's fruit, and it is edible! We do not think spiders would like them too much since their diets mostly consist of flies and mosquitoes, but their seedpods are the perfect hideout.

They found a dead spider while cleaning the coffee machine

Did you know that the most expensive coffee in the world is called “kopi luwak” and that the beans are sourced from a feline's feces? This shows you never know what crazy process will make your morning brew taste better.

Having a spider in your coffee maker will probably not work as a flavor enhancer, though. This person was cleaning out their machine when they found an uninvited dead guest inside.

Their morning coffee was ruined when they found a giant bug at the bottom of the mug

If you are not a morning person, you probably cannot function properly without a cup of coffee. This person did not either, since they failed to notice something was swimming inside their drink.

We cannot imagine how terrifying and gross it must have been to find that at the end of our cup. And what if they had tilted the cup and the creature had fallen on their face? Just thinking about it makes us shiver.

This person spared a spider's life but then it multiplied

Spiders are great at pest control, so it is beneficial for humans to keep them around. For example, they keep the mosquito population in check. They also kill other insect species that can harm crops.

So, it is better not to kill them if you ever find one scurrying around your house, which is what this homeowner did. Little did they know that the single critter would reproduce and multiply so quickly.

It got caught in a loofah

Imagine it is a cold winter day. You come back from work and the only thing you want is to take a warm shower. You get the water ready, take off your clothes, and get inside. But when you reach for your loofah, you see something odd.

You find an unexpected friend caught in its web. You would think a spider would know how to get out of a web like that, but this one seems to have lost its way. That sponge should go straight into the trash.
