Cornbread is a great American classic
You must have tried or at least heard of cornbread as it is a classic American food, especially from the South. But you might not know that this delicious sweet cake-like bread was actually adopted from Native Americans. Corn was a fundamental ingredient in the diets of Native American people.
Even before the settlers’ arrival, natives grounded the corn into a meal and used it to bake bread. Like the Hopi people in Arizona, some cultures had their own staple versions of this meal. Cornbread has a lot of history, so it is great that we still consume it today.
