The classic gravy and biscuits were born during this time
You have probably heard at least once of gravy and biscuits. This dish consists of a baked soft dough covered in meat gravy. This dressing was made from the grease that drips from cooking pork or ground beef, as well as flour and milk. You can even add bits of the meat you have prepared.
Nowadays, people still have a plate of biscuits and gravy as a heavy breakfast or even lunch. Nevertheless, it was also a very popular dish back in colonial times. It goes back to the times of the American Revolutionary War, but the recipe we know today comes from the 1800s.
