Here is a rarely seen angle of the Moon
In case this comes as a surprise, we’re here to reveal that the Moon enjoys photobombing the Earth. NASA’s Deep Space Climate Observatory (or DSCOVR) satellite is constantly pointed towards the illuminated areas of Earth in order to provide observations. However, on rare occasions, the satellite captures something else.
About twice a year, the orbit of DSCOVR crosses the orbital plane of the Moon and captures one of its faces in detail. The fact that this is a real picture and not CGI is truly amazing. Today, when film and TV present images of space regularly, it’s quite surreal to see actual, realistic pictures of outer space. It reminds us that the universe is truly out of this world.
