These balls form when small chunks of ice get rolled over by wind and water
There is a rare phenomenon that happens in places that are very cold and where there is open water, where small bits of ice get rolled over by wind and sea currents. It also has to be cold enough for these balls not to melt.
The churn of the icy cold water and the strength of the freezing breeze polish the pieces until they become smooth and egg-shaped. These ice eggs are most commonly found on the beautiful yet cold coasts of Finland. Holding one would be worth a visit.
