Flamingos are not born with pink feathers
Flamingos are known for two main qualities: their one-legged stance and their bright pink plumage. Interestingly, they are not born with that pink coloring but acquire it through a diet rich in beta carotene, a red-orange pigment found in many organisms such as fungi, plants, and fruits.
In adult flamingos, the vibrancy of their feathers determines whether they are well fed and well nourished or not. In a healthy flamingo, the colors are stronger. On the contrary, a white or pale bird is usually unhealthy or malnourished.
