When a dealer from Long Island approached the Knoedler Gallery of New York City with a treasure chest of art, works of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, between the 15-year span of 1994-2009, these dubious works were signed by a mystery man “Mr.X” was sold for a fortune estimated worth tens of millions of dollars.
When the Knoedler gallery was sued by Pierre Lagrange, who suspected he was fooled into buying a fake Pollock in 2011, Rosales’ cover was finally blown, and she was charged with wire fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering.
