The Forty Elephants Gang: Crime Ivory
Between the 18th Century and mid-1950s, the elites of the Elephant and Castle area of London were terrorized by the criminal group that called themselves ‘The Forty Elephants.’ While the name implies forty members, the total number of members the group had could never be pinpointed.
The burglars often dressed like housemaids to gain access to the elite households and did their deeds. The evidence about the members is still a blur, so no official statement was ever found about it.
