Tsunamis Move At 500 Miles Per Hour
Seismic events usually trigger tsunamis. According to the National History Museum Of Utah, tsunamis move at 500 miles per hour when the ocean’s depth is 3.7 miles. The waves are usually not noticeable because they are only a few inches above the surface.
As the waves move towards land, the depths shrink, the waves will pick up water, and the above-surface size will increase. Thankfully, the speed of the tsunami wave will begin to slow down.
