An Earthquake caused the Largest Ocean Sound
The loudest ocean sound was recorded in 1997 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). They named the sound “The Bloop.” The sound was so loud that it was picked up by sensors 3000 miles away.
The nature of the sound made it seem as if it was coming from an animal. However, no known animal is big enough to make such a noise. The NOAA concluded that the sound came from an earthquake after 15 years.
