Dolphins Love To Get High
We all love a good high, right? So do dolphins. Humans aren’t the only creatures that suffer from substance abuse problems. Horses love to eat hallucinogenic weeds, and elephants get drunk on overripe fruit. Dolphins also join the list of animals who enjoy recreational drug use.
Dolphins get high using pufferfish. They could do this as individuals or get high in groups. Pufferfish release a potent chemical when they are threatened. In small doses, the toxins released can induce a trance-like state in dolphins.
