How to Make Things Harder for Yourself

Today it is generally believed that calculus was discovered in the late 17th century by two great mathematicians: Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz. However, the dispute over who first discovered calculus became a major debate. Like most scientific discoveries, calculus did not arise out of a vacuum. This meme tries to mock these inventors since they could not use the existing maths to express their ideas, they formed a newer, harder branch. 

The meme mockingly says that “modern problems require modern solutions.” Their math problem was so grand that they had to come up with something even more unreasonable to solve it.
