Where do out-of-use subway cars end up?
New York is a highly populated city that generates large amounts of garbage. One of the biggest challenges in this city is handling all this waste in the best possible way. But it seems that they have not yet found an ecological and environmentally friendly way to do it.
The way New York City discards subway cars that are already out of use is quite interesting. They use construction equipment to slide the wagons to shore and drop them into the sea., where their weight will make them sink. This photo shows how these wagons dumped at sea look after several years.
