The damage hurricane Sandy caused New York
In 2012 New York City experienced what has been described as the most significant disaster to its mass transit system in more than a century. There were also catastrophic losses in the local economy. All this was due to Hurricane Sandy making landfall on the coast of the state of New Jersey, United States.
Experts have called this hurricane “Frankenstorm.” You can imagine why. Can’t you? Since this hurricane, concern has grown that large storms like Sandy could become more common if the surface temperature of the Atlantic water continues to rise.
